Volunteer

There are many ways to give back and make a difference. Whether you are volunteering your time or talent, we welcome you to our alumni volunteer network.

Get Involved

We offer a number of ways for you to stay connected with the Schar School community and help shape the future of the School.

Serve on the Alumni Chapter Board

The Schar School Alumni Chapter Board co-sponsors social and professional networking events and organizes the Annual Alumni Awards Gala. We invite all graduates of programs within the Schar School to participate. Elections are held once a year in May. For more information on the application process, contact us.

Join a Committee

Develop new friendships and make a difference by joining one of our chapter committees. Our current opportunities for chapter committee membership include: Alumni Events, Student Scholarship Fundraising, Student Support (Admissions, Career Development, and Student Services), Veteran and Active Military Affairs, and Undergraduate Initiatives. For more information on the application process, contact us.

Career Development & Networking

Do you have valuable career expertise or insights into professional development and networking? Consider volunteering your time with our Office of Career Development, which hosts alumni speakers throughout the year for workshops covering topics such as interviewing advice, marketing yourself on LinkedIn, federal job search strategies, and more. You may also be interested in recruiting our graduate students at our annual Job and Internship Fair. For more information on getting involved with the Office of Career Development, contact us.

Mentoring Program

Are you a Schar School alum looking for ways to give back? Consider joining the Schar School Alumni Mentorship Program as a mentor! The mentorship program is designed to bring together alumni, current students, and recent graduates in purposeful and rewarding relationships to help bridge the gap between the classroom and the professional world.

Based on feedback from mentors and mentees, the Schar School mentorship program is changing back to a full academic year, providing engagement between mentors and mentees from September 2025 through May 2026.

If you’re looking for a meaningful experience serving as a mentor, please complete the form by 5 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025.
